DMA Unveils Dynamic Hall of Fame Award Website
DMA has unveiled its newly upgraded Hall of Fame Award website, www.dmahalloffame.org. The Hall of Fame Award will be given at a luncheon ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, during the DMA2010 Conference & Exhibition in San Francisco. Deadline for submissions is Friday, Apr. 30.

DMA Testifies in Opposition of Proposed Expansion of FTC Authority

DMA has released its Ethics Case Report for February 2009 – February 2010. During this period, the Committee on Ethical Business Practice conducted in-depth reviews of the promotions and practices of 34 companies. DMA’s Corporate & Social Responsibility and Customer Service staff handled an additional 4,000 complaints and inquiries from consumers about direct and interactive marketing practices.

DMEF Premieres 2010 Interactive Marketing Immersion Xperience (I-Mix)
The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) recently announced it is accepting applications for its 2010 Interactive Marketing Immersion Xperience (I-MIX) program. I-MIX, designed for juniors and first semester college seniors considering a career in marketing, is an innovative program that will help students set themselves apart from their peers in today’s job market. Bing Searches Increase 5% in January 2010, According to Hitwise
Experian Hitwise has announced that Google accounted for 71.49% of all US searches conducted in the four weeks ending Jan. 31, 2010. Yahoo! Search, Bing, and Ask.com received 14.57%, 9.37% and 2.64%, respectively. The remaining 65 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.93% of US searches.

comScore Releases January 2010 US Search Engine Rankings
comScore, Inc. has released its monthly comScore qSearch analysis of the US search marketplace. In January 2010, Americans conducted 15.2 billion core searches, with Google sites accounting for 65.4% search market share. Microsoft sites grabbed 11.3% market share, up 0.6 percentage points versus December.

Recycling in Post Offices Expanding, According to USPS
More than 200,000 tons, and counting. That’s how much paper, plastics, and other waste the US Postal Service recycled in 2009, representing a decrease in its greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 1.67 million barrels of oil, according to the US Postal Service.

A coalition led by DMANF has sent a letter to President Obama, strongly urging the Administration to reconsider its proposal (or any similar proposals) in the FY 2011 Budget that would limit the value of itemized deductions for charitable contributions.

C. Rose Harper, First Woman to Serve as DMA Chairman, Passes Away at Age 90
DMA was saddened to learn of the death of C. Rose Harper, former DMA Chairman, DMA Hall of Fame Inductee, and direct marketing pioneer. Ms. Harper passed away on the evening of Feb. 4, at the age of 90.
