DMA's Charles Prescott Re-Elected to FEDMA Board and Vice Chairman
April 25, 2008 — The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) today announced that Charles A. Prescott, DMA vice president of Global Knowledge Network Services, was re-elected to a two-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of European Direct and Interactive Marketing (FEDMA). Additionally, Prescott was re-elected as one of the Board’s four vice chairmen.
The FEDMA Board, which met on April 16 during the FEDMA General Assembly in Brussels, Belgium, will be chaired by Emma Lawson, senior vice president, global marketing & publishing, Reader's Digest. The chairman, the four vice chairs, and the treasurer serve as the elected members of the FEDMA Executive Committee, which oversees federation administration. The committee also includes FEDMA Director General Alastair Tempest and the immediate past chairman Ara Cinar, CEO, Voyages-Loisirs, a Bertelsmann Company, and a former DMA Board member.
In addition to Lawson, Prescott, Tempest, and Cinar, the other members of the 2008 Executive Committee are:
· Vice Chairman: Sergio Pilu, Marketing and Communications Manager, Addressvitt
· Vice Chairman: Ivan Vandermeersch, Director, Belgian DMA (BDMA)
· Vice Chairman: Dieter Weng, President, German Direct Marketing Association (DDV)
· Treasurer: Alexander Singewald, CEO, Singewald Consultants
Commenting on his re-election to FEDMA’s Board, Prescott said, “I’m extremely honored to again serve as one of the FEDMA Board’s vice chairs, and I look forward to continuing my work with FEDMA’s leadership, staff, and members. FEDMA today faces — as do all of us in the global direct marketing community — tremendous change, which presents us great opportunities as well as daunting challenges. As the Federation moves forward, I welcome this opportunity to serve as the Direct Marketing Association’s envoy.”
DMA Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ramesh Lakshmi-Ratan, Ph.D., said, “Charles Prescott’s re-election underscores the emphasis we continue to place on DMA’s global presence and engagement. FEDMA and DMA have, for many years and on multiple fronts, been strong allies. Now more than ever, our partnership is vitally important as we work to expand data-driven, multichannel marketing’s presence and power in Europe — and beyond.”
A 1974 graduate of Harvard Law School, Prescott is also chairman of the Consultative Committee (CC) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), and was recently appointed to the Advisory Committee on International Postal and Delivery Services to the US State Department. He joined the DMA in 1999, having previously worked at The Readers’ Digest Association, Inc. in a similar capacity.
