eec Announces Call for Nominations for its People's Choice: 2009 Best In Email Award; Nomination Deadline Nov. 21
November 3, 2008 — The Email Experience Council (eec), the email marketing arm of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), today announced a call for nominations for the eec People’s Choice: 2009 Best in Email Award. The award, which debuted last year as the Email Performance Award, will be presented to an individual or organization that has created an email marketing campaign which best demonstrates the full power of the email marketing channel.
Entries will be evaluated for their marketing strategy, creative components, and, most importantly, results. Permission-based email marketing campaigns from any industry vertical are eligible for entry into the award competition as long as results described have been achieved within the last 12 months.
eec members will select the winner from among the Email Performance Award finalists, which will be determined by the eec’s leadership and announced in mid-January. The winner will receive complimentary registration to the Email Evolution Conference being held at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona from February 9 — 11, 2009. The eec People’s Choice: 2009 Best in Email Award will be presented during a luncheon sponsored by Listrak.
The winner of ecc’s People Choice: 2009 Best in Email Award will also be placed into the semi-finals of DMA’s 2009 International ECHO Awards. Since 1929, the ECHO Awards, which are presented each October, have recognized the world’s outstanding multichannel direct marketing campaigns based on excellence in strategy, creativity, and results.
“The eec People’s Choice Award is truly a one-of-a-kind event,” said Jeanniey Mullen, eec founder and chief marketing officer of Zinio and VIVMag. “It is a unique opportunity for all members of the email marketing community to come together and celebrate the best in email. Entries to the People’s Choice Award best represent the elements that help define and shape the ongoing success and continued growth of email marketing.”
“According to new DMA research, every marketing dollar spent on email this year is forecast to generate a return of $45.06,” said Ramesh Lakshmi-Ratan, PhD, DMA’s executive vice president & chief operating officer. “During these uncertain economic times, it is more important than ever to honor powerful email marketers, and the eec People’s Choice: 2009 Best in Email Award entry campaigns will further demonstrate the full power of email marketing.”
