HR 1105

The Omnibus Appropriations Bill includes language mandating six-day delivery of Postal Mail.

DMA supports the appropriations for USPS, and maintains that increasing rates and reducing service is not recommended

 

HR 1105 was signed into law March 11, 2009.

 

 

 

S 141

S 141 would prohibit the sale, display, or purchase of SSNs to the general public without an individual’s consent.

DMA supports protection of personal data, such as SSNs, while maintaining legitimate business use.

 

S 141 referred to Senate Judiciary Committee.

 

 

S 139

S 139 would require notification of a breach of sensitive personal information.

DMA supports a national responsible risk-based notification in the event of a data breach.

 

S 139 referred to Senate Judiciary Committee.

 


 

S 43

S 43 would make permanent the moratorium on Internet access taxes and multiple and discriminatory taxes on electronic commerce.

DMA supports a permanent moratorium, but will oppose any efforts to attach amendments that would allow states to collect sales tax on online or other remote purchases from companies that have no physical presence in that state.

HR 22

HR 22 would allow the United States Postal Service to pay its share of contributions for annuitants' health benefits out of the Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund.

DMA supports HR 22 and similar efforts to maintain the viability of the USPS

HR 1083

HR 1083 would prohibit states from collecting net income tax and imposing state-specific business activity taxes unless that business has a minimum in-state physical presence.

DMA supports HR 1083.
