DMA Teleservices Council Issues Labor Day Advisory

August 22, 2006 — The Direct Marketing Association’s Teleservices Council is offering the following Labor Day advisory to its members.

As a membership benefit, we would like to remind those of you who use the telephone in your business for outbound calling to please note that Labor Day is celebrated in the US this year on the first Monday of September, which is September 4, 2006.

While it is recommended that the holiday be observed by all, outbound consumer calling is specifically prohibited in Alabama, Louisiana, Utah, and Rhode Island IF you are required to register in Rhode Island.

Questions regarding this message or other compliance issues may be referred to Joan Mullen, vice president of ORC ProTel, LLC. and legislative chair of the DMA Teleservices Council’s Operating Committee at joan.mullen@orcprotel.com or 1-916-683-8153.

The goal of the DMA Teleservices Council is to represent and promote teleservices as a valuable part of the marketing mix by serving and educating “telemarketing influentials” and marketing practitioners.  Also, the Council’s mission is to identify and develop the needs of individuals in a position to influence policies and practices in customer relations.

For additional information on the Council, visit http://www.the-dma.org/councils/teleservicescouncil or contact Kelli Hornachek at khornachek@the-dma.org or 212.790.1514.
