September 14, 2006 — It’s time to finish the job on postal reform. Members of Congress need to hear from you, their constituents, that postal reform is an important issue that needs to be resolved now.
As the 109th Congress draws to a close, we are closer than ever to achieving much-needed legislative reform that will shape the future of the United States Postal Service (USPS) and its rate-paying customers, both for-profit and nonprofit.
Bills have been passed in both chambers. Now all that remains is for Congressional leadership to work out the few remaining details in conference and get a bill to President Bush.
Postal reform is critical to the survival of your business or nonprofit organization and to the ongoing success of America’s economy. In fact, in the United States, an estimated $900 billion in annual economic activity and 9 million jobs depend on a viable US Postal Service.
We need a vote on this important legislation this fall so that the Postal Service can continue to provide the services you need at rates you can afford.
How You Can Help
We are calling on all DMA members to write or call their US Senators and Representatives and urge them to act quickly on postal reform.
