Council-Sponsored Sessions and Events Provide Segment- Specific Education and Networking Forums

October 5, 2006 — The Direct Marketing Association’s (DMA) special-interest Councils are sponsoring sessions at DMA06 that get to the heart of issues facing direct marketing specialists across all segments of the extensive direct marketing process.  DMA06 will be held October 14-19 at Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, CA.

“The DMA’s Special Interest Councils are communities of individuals from member companies focusing on specific segments, niche markets, or channels of direct marketing,” says Ken Ebeling, DMA’s vice president, Member Loyalty Services.  “DMA06 features 21 sessions sponsored by our councils, offering information that council members deemed the most crucial to their companies' current marketing efforts.”

Council Events Offer Rich Networking Opportunities

The DMA also invites all DMA06 delegates to attend Council events while in San Francisco.  “Drop by to meet other specialists, share ideas, and make the best of these extraordinary networking opportunities,” urges Ebeling.  “Council events at major conferences like DMA06 offer a one-of-a-kind chance to meet other marketers with similar business challenges, and come up with fresh ideas and marketing solutions.  You soon learn that two – or more -- heads are always better than one.”

Open Council Meetings will also be held throughout the conference to give members a chance to discuss membership and programming ideas.  Council Operating Committee members and staff will be on hand to answer member questions.

”The Council meetings and the Lounge give members a chance to meet to compare notes on the DMA06 program roster, to focus their schedules, and perhaps broaden their attendance by discussing sessions they may not have considered,” Ebeling says.  “It helps to mine the DMA06 program with colleagues of like mind.”
