2007 MCM Awards Finalists Announced, Gold and Silver Awards to Be Presented May 22 During ACCM

April 12, 2007 — Finalists in the 2007 MCM Awards – multichannel marketing’s top honors for B-to-B and B-to-C marketers – have been announced.  Sixty (60) Print Channel, 37 Web Channel, and 11 Cross-Channel finalists were named in 17 categories from more than 200 entries.  The Gold and Silver Award winners will be presented at a special luncheon on May 22, at the Annual Conference for Catalog and Multichannel Merchants (ACCM) taking place May 21-23 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.

The MCM Awards continue the tradition of recognizing superior print catalogs and Web sites from around the globe.  Gold and Silver awards are awarded for quality in both print and Web, and the Cross Channel Award honors multichannel merchants for synergy across the print and Web channels.

MCM Awards finalists and winners are evaluated by a panel of experts through a series of three judging sessions:  pre-screening, in-home evaluations, and a final judging session.  Print and Web Channel entries are evaluated on creative, merchandising, copy, customer service/navigation, and marketing execution.  Cross Channel entries are evaluated on the synergy between channels and results.

In 2006, marketers – commercial and nonprofit – spent $166.5 billion on direct marketing in the United States. Measured against total US sales, these advertising expenditures generated $1.93 trillion in incremental sales.  Last year, direct marketing accounted for 10.3 percent of total US GDP.  Also, there are today 1.7 million direct marketing employees in the US alone. Their collective sales efforts directly support 8.8 million other jobs.  That accounts for 10.5 million US jobs.
