DMEF Taps Marie A. Adolphe for New VP Programming

August 6, 2007 — The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) today announced the appointment of Marie A. Adolphe as the Foundation’s new vice president of programming.

Adolphe took the reins of her new position today, arriving with 15 years of corporate experience.  Most recently, she served as human resources director for Bertelsmann’s Bookspan.  At DMEF, Adolphe’s primary responsibilities will include program development and implementation, direct marketing community and academic research, and image and promotion.

Commenting on the appointment, DMEF President Terri L. Bartlett said, “I had the unique opportunity to interview Marie on the job as we worked together to create the DMEF’s new Direct Marketing Leadership Development Program.  Her vast experience in HR arms her with the perfect blend of skills, enabling her to nurture and expand relationships with top-quality colleges and universities nationwide, identify and attract world-class talent, and to recognize and respond to the specific needs of today’s direct/interactive marketplace.  With Marie in place, I look forward to catapulting DMEF programs to a whole new level, as we significantly expand our ability to meet the needs of today’s marketplace.”

At Bookspan since 2001, Adolphe advanced through the ranks in human resources ultimately to provide direction and support for two offices with 650 employees.  Prior to joining Bookspan, she coordinated human resources for Federated Merchandising Group from 1998 to 2001.  Adolphe’s additional experience includes Saint Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan, Adecco S.A., and Park Central Hotel.

Adolphe holds a bachelor’s degrees in hotel administration and French literature from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s degree in organizational behavior from Pace University.

About Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF)

Headquartered in New York City, the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) works to attract, educate, and place top college students by continuously improving the teaching of world-class direct/interactive marketing and, thereby, expanding and enriching the talent pool of trained, market-ready direct marketers.  Established in 1966 by members of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) who wanted to give something back to the community, DMEF is today a separate, 501(3)(c) nonprofit corporation that is supported solely by tax-deductible contributions from individuals, companies, and regional clubs and associations.  Funds raised go toward a broad range of world-class educational programs.

Since its founding, thousands of students have taken advantage of DMEF’s educational programs, entering the field with the competitive edge of being “workplace-ready.”  Many have gone on to become today’s direct marketing leaders, an indication of the Foundation’s success.  In addition, more than 1,800 professors have participated in DMEF programs.

Thanks in significant part to the Foundation’s four decades of work, today approximately 250 colleges and universities offer courses in direct/interactive marketing, 20 of which now offer specific direct marketing degrees and certificate programs.  For additional information about the DMEF, its mission, and its programs, visit www.the-dmef.org.
