DMA07 and Nonprofit Federation: Donor-Focused Nonprofit Day Sessions to Add Value
August 29, 2007 — With the Web, today’s consumers are more informed and more in control. Consequently, donors, too, are more informed and in control. Certainly, in this interactive environment, donors’ expectations have risen. And with increasing competition for donor attention, knowing which marketing strategies work best to raise support is all the more essential for today’s nonprofit professional.
So at DMA07 Conference & Exhibition on Tuesday, October 16, a day after business icon and author Kenneth Cole presents a keynote presentation about fusing fashion marketing with social action, nonprofit professionals will have a golden opportunity to spend a day honing their charitable skills in ways that will help bolster their organizations’ fundraising endeavors in today’s multichannel marketplace.
DMA07, the six-day multichannel event of the year for nonprofit as well as for-profit marketers, will be held from October 13–18 at Chicago’s McCormick Place West.
“Nonprofits can learn many lessons and gain insights from the commercial perspective,” said Xenia “Senny” Boone, who serves as the executive director of the Nonprofit Federation of the Direct Marketing Association (DMANF) and DMA vice president and special counsel. “DMA07 will keep nonprofit professionals ahead of the fundraising curve in today’s rapidly evolving marketplace. In one information-packed day, we have put together two nonprofit sessions and a networking event — specifically for nonprofit attendees — at a special rate.”
Nonprofit Day
Tuesday, October 16 — 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
At this special day of nonprofit programming, dynamic, informative sessions will focus on the issues key to nonprofit marketers. Attendees will also have the opportunity to roam the extensive DMA07 Exhibit Hall, which will showcase more than 550 state-of-the-art solution providers.
· Advanced Fundraising: Building Long-term Supporters
David Lawson, Vice President, Market Strategy, Kintera
11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Nonprofit organizations need more than triage fundraising drives. Lifelong donors help support long-term goals, and this DMA07 Nonprofit Day session will discuss the future of direct marketing and fundraising by looking at current and future tools and analyzing their potential use in tomorrow’s fundraising efforts. Just as commercial businesses do, nonprofits can use the advances in technology and direct marketing strategy to increase fundraising success as marketing evolves.
· Email Deliverability: Out of the Bulk Mail Folder and Into the Inbox
Bill Pease, PhD, Chief Scientist, Convio
2:45 to 4 p.m.
It’s difficult for nonprofit organizations to raise money if potential donors don’t know the charitable groups need funds. Email filters, spam, and deliverability issues can stop worthy communications — including fundraising appeals — from reaching the recipient’s inbox. This DMA07 Nonprofit Day session discusses the ever-changing rules of email marketing, including what nonprofits can do today to ensure that their organization is not labeled as a spammer. Topics covered will include the importance of being whitelisted and email authentication.
Nonprofit Federation Networking Reception
Tuesday, October 16 — 4 to 5 p.m.
After the intellectual workout of DMA07’s Nonprofit Day, cool down begins immediately. Join the Nonprofit Federation for a special networking reception geared for nonprofit fundraisers and colleagues, where attendees will have the chance to relax and compare notes with fellow attendees and nonprofit professionals. The fun begins at 4 p.m.
Capacity for this special networking event is limited, so please be sure to sign up early! RSVP to Helen Lee at hlee@the-dma.org or 202.861.2496. Reservations will be accepted until October 1.
