Clarke Outstanding Educator Award RecipientHonor Will Be Presented During DMA09 in New York, NY, July 13, 2009 — The Direct Marketing Educational Foundation (DMEF) today announced that John “Jack” Schibrowsky, PhD, professor of Marketing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) will receive the DMEF Robert B. Clarke Outstanding Educator Award.
The honor will be presented at the 2009 DMEF Direct/Interactive Marketing Research Summit Awards Luncheon on Sunday, October 18, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. The The honoree is also introduced the night before at DMEF’s Annual Awards Dinner, which presents both marketing professionals and academics the unique opportunity to gather together to celebrate the growth of multichannel marketing, stress the importance of education in the greater community, and help advance cutting-edge direct/interactive marketing educational resources. “Today’s students set a high bar for professors preparing them for life beyond the classroom, and this year’s honoree, Professor Schibrowsky, surpasses those expectations,” said Gary S. Laben, chief executive officer of KnowledgeBase Marketing, and chairman of DMEF. “We are happy to acknowledge and award someone whose career has benefited not only the academic side of direct/interactive marketing, but students and ultimately the community as a whole.” Robert B. Clarke Outstanding Educator Award The 2009 Robert B. Clarke Outstanding Educator Award recognizes an academician’s overall achievement in direct/interactive marketing education. It is based on an educator’s record of teaching, writing, research, and speaking. Past honorees have included Dr. Edward C. Malthouse, Nominations are reviewed by DMEF staff and semi-finalists are presented to the DMEF Nominating & Governance Committee, with their recommendation presented to the Executive Committee for final selection and approval. The recipient becomes the academic representative to the DMEF Board of Trustees for a one-year term. Jack Schibrowsky’s unwavering dedication to both his students and the discipline of direct/interactive marketing has helped propel his accomplished career. He has received a total of six national research awards over the past 10 years. Over the last 15 years, has produced more than 100 intellectual contributions to major publications, including DMEF’s Journal of Interactive Marketing®. His scholarship activities have focused on four areas: direct/database marketing, marketing education, not-for-profit marketing, and health care marketing. Schibrowsky serves as the advisor to UNLV’s student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) and has taken his team to the International Case Competition finals for the past three years. He was also elected to serve as the 2009-2010 president of the AMA Collegiate Chapters Counsel, which oversees more than 250 collegiate chapters and 11,000 members. In 2008 he was named Marketing Educator of the Year by the Marketing Educators Association and currently serves as co-chair of DMEF’s Research Summit – Teaching track.
