Direct Marketing Association Announces Call for Entries for New DMA Future Innovators Awards

Honors to be Presented During DMA09 in San Diego

New York, NY, August 6, 2009The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) today announced a call for entries for its brand new DMA Future Innovators Awards (FIA) recognizing the innovative advances being made in the field of marketing.  The inaugural honors will be presented at an Awards Party on Sunday, October 18, at 5 p.m. during the DMA09 Conference & Exhibition, the Global Event for Integrated Marketing, taking place October 17-22 in San Diego.

Today’s marketers, faced with unique challenges, are experimenting as they strive to rebalance.  Recognizing that unexpected changes foster ingenuity and creativity, and that experiments usually garner surprising results, DMA’s FIA awards are now showcasing and rewarding those outstanding achievements.  The awards will be presented each year to suppliers of new products or services exhibiting at DMA’s annual conference that are deemed the most influential and having improved the global marketing community in the previous year.

“Our annual conference has always been the culmination of everything DMA stands for,” said Paul A. McDonnough, vice president, Conferences & Events.  “And our exhibit hall is always filled with the must-have tools for businesses looking to fully integrate their marketing campaigns, so we thought DMA09 was the best place to debut the FIA awards that acknowledge the great and inventive strides our members and exhibitors have taken over the past year.  All the companies that have navigated this last year are successes that should be studied and celebrated.”

The deadline for entries is August 20, and judging begins the following day.  Judges, comprised of the marketing community’s best and brightest, will review the submissions based on three main criteria:  how innovative the product or service is, whether it is completely new or an advancement; the impact the product or service has on an end user (quantified with data); and whether or not the product or service made a difference to the global marketing community.
