WHAT:

Direct Marketing Association (The DMA) Alternate Response Media Council Insert Day Conference & Exhibition (www.dmainsertday.org).

Alternate media has entered the mainstream in direct response marketing due to its ability to build additional revenue streams for marketers. At this event, industry experts will discuss how they are utilizing package inserts, bind-ins, blow-ins, ride-alongs, and statement stuffers, among other things, to grow their customer base while keeping costs down.

Insert Day will provide attendees with a full day of informative sessions, exhibits, and networking opportunities where marketers will learn practical tactics and strategies used to launch successful cost-effective campaigns, work better with printers and lettershops, choose the right list manager or broker, and penetrate the growing ethnic market.

  • More than 20 exhibitors will showcase the solutions to help marketers work more efficiently, target new prospects, and lower marketing and fulfillment costs. Products featured will include sources for a variety of insert media -- package inserts, catalog inserts, ride-along, statement stuffers, free-standing inserts (FSI's), and more. Also, marketing partners with creative services, fulfillment, lettershop and printing expertise will be present.
  • Opening General Session, "The Brave New World of Insert Media: A Futuristic Look at Where the Industry Is Headed." A panel of four DMA Alternate Response Media Council honorees, recognized for excellence and outstanding service and contributions, will present their expert perspective on where the industry is headed. Panelists will include: Ben Giordano, CEO, Media Solutions South; Leon Henry, CEO, Leon Henry, Inc.; Robin Neal, vice president of sales, PlusMedia, LLC; and Sandra Roscoe, senior vice president, Singer Direct.
  • Sessions led by alternate media experts from companies -- such as Gilford and Associates, Leon Henry, Millard Group, Mokrynski, Stanton Direct and 1-800-Flowers -- will offer tips and guidance based on their years of industry experience.
  • Luncheon Keynote: Stephen LePera, media director of Mantis. Since 1994, Steve LePera has been the media director for Mantis, a division of Schiller-Pfeiffer. Prior to joining Mantis, LePera spent six years specializing in the purchase of longform and shortform direct response television time for agencies in suburban Philadelphia.   • Members of the press will have an opportunity to interview some of the nation's top marketers who use alternate response media.
