2007 MCM Award Winners Culled From More Than 200 Entries

Boston, MA, May 22, 2007 — MULTICHANNEL MERCHANT today announced the winners of its 2007 MCM Awards at a luncheon ceremony at the Annual Conference for Catalog & Multichannel Merchants (ACCM).  The awards, which honor both business-to-business (B-to-B) and business-to-consumer (B-to-C) marketers, were culled from a total of 64 finalists from the print channel, 37 from the Web channel, and 11 cross-channel in 17 categories.  The finalists had been selected from more than 200 entries.

Gold and Silver Awards are given annually for quality in both print and Web, and the Cross-Channel Awards honor multichannel merchants for synergy across the print and Web channels.  In all, MULTICHANNEL MERCHANT today presented 55 accolades.

Top 2007 MCM honors went to:

·        Fire Authority, Galls — B-to-B Multichannel Merchant of the Year

·        Crutchfield Corp. — B-to-C Multichannel Merchant of the Year

·        Black Box Corp., Network Services 2006 — Catalog of the Year

·        Crutchfield Corp. (www.crutchfield.com) — Website of the Year

Two other retailers with impressive showings today were L.L.Bean, with five Silver Awards and four Gold, and The Orvis Co., with four Silver and two Gold.

MCM Awards finalists and winners are evaluated by a panel of experts through a series of three judging sessions:  pre-screening, in-home evaluations, and a final judging session.  Print and Web channel entries are evaluated on creative, merchandising, copy, customer service/navigation, and marketing execution.  Cross-channel entries are evaluated on the synergy between channels and results.

About Direct Marketing Association (DMA)

The Direct Marketing Association (www.the-dma.org) is the leading global trade association of businesses and nonprofit organizations using and supporting multichannel direct marketing tools and techniques.  DMA advocates industry standards for responsible marketing, promotes relevance as the key to reaching consumers with desirable offers, and provides cutting-edge research, education, and networking opportunities to improve results throughout the end-to-end direct marketing process.  Founded in 1917, DMA today represents more than 3,600 companies from dozens of vertical industries in the US and 50 other nations, including a majority of the Fortune 100 companies, as well as nonprofit organizations.

In 2006, marketers — commercial and nonprofit — spent $166.5 billion on direct marketing in the United States.  Measured against total US sales, these advertising expenditures generated $1.93 trillion in incremental sales.  Last year, direct marketing accounted for 10.3 percent of total US GDP.  Also, there are today 1.7 million direct marketing employees in the US alone.  Their collective sales efforts directly support 8.8 million other jobs.  That accounts for 10.5 million US jobs.

The Power of Direct:  Relevance.  Responsibility.  Results.
