To the Members of the Southern California Chapter of the DMA:
Your Board of Directors has been diligently working on several plans designed to do the following:
- Provide a continuous flow of professional speakers throughout the year.
- Bring current subjects to the table that are of interest to practitioners of every phase of Direct Response Advertising and Marketing.
- Provide a Venue that will be comfortable and gracious with a variety of food to satisfy any pallet.
- Maintain a supportive level of attendees and variety of disciplines to each meeting and luncheon that will afford the best flow of communications and networking.
- Provide access to the National Direct Marketing Association as well as other clubs and associations across the country but especially to address the unique needs of our members in California.
- Lower the dues from the original the $195/yr membership to $125 (which has currently been established).
- Provided a smooth, simple, efficient and accurate event registration, and proper applying of appropriate early-bird and membership discounts.
- From time to time offer social events and possibly combine professional and social events with fellow Direct Marketers from other geographical areas of Southern California.
- Establish an administrative assistance to the workings of the association for the purpose of handling the details of a newsletter, provide programs to increase membership and attendance to our events and take care of the efficient flow of accounting procedures.
- Build-up the Southern California reputation as being innovators in the multi- faceted Direct Marketing industry and the leaders in application of Art and Science into measurable and effective advertising.
To accomplish the 10 points that we have set forth as our goal for 2006 we have discussed opportunities offered to us by the National Direct Marketing Association and those available to us from the Los Angeles Direct Marketing Association. Your Board has decided that for the betterment of our members we will be taking advantage of an Affiliate Membership to the DMA, and in addition combine our membership with the Los Angeles Association to become the Direct Marketing Association of Southern California. (DMASC)
In all, we and the LADMA Board believe that every member of both organizations will benefit from this decision and gain a versatility and expansion of services that will now be available all to our members.
Your membership will automatically be rolled into DMASC. No fees are required at this time, unless you membership has expired prior or during the month of November. If this is the case, please contact Bob Hughes at 818-541-1152 (www.dmasc.org) to renew at the same low rate of $125 per year. The rate is even lower now for client side members.
If you have any questions about this decision please feel free to e-mail John Fasano, former chair of the chapter.
