A former media executive, entrepreneur and consultant with over 35 years in the publishing/circulation industry, Chip Block is now a media commentator with articles published in Advertising Age, Folio and Circulation Management magazines.

Liberta Abbondante, Vice President, Circulation Marketing
Dow Jones & Company

Liberta Abbondante has worked for thirty years in the publishing and direct marketing industry. Her experience includes general management, publishing, marketing, strategic planning and circulation promotion.

She has held senior management positions at a diverse group of media companies whose products include newspapers, magazines, newsletters, memberships, electronic media and classroom products.

Currently, Liberta holds the position of Vice President - Circulation Marketing for The Wall Street Journal and WSJ.com, Barron's and Barron's Online and Marketwatch where she was responsible for all direct marketing and traffic driving activities. Prior to joining Dow Jones, Liberta worked at Forbes Inc. as Vice President, Circulation. She managed the circulation activities for Forbes Magazine including its international edition, Forbes Global, which had circulation operations in London and Singapore. She also was responsible for managing the Forbes Financial Newsletter division and the American Heritage Magazine Group.

Prior to her experience with financial publications, Liberta worked at emap publishing as the President of Consumer Marketing. During her tenure, the company launched FHM and grew its magazine portfolio to a stable of over 120 magazines that served a variety of niche markets. Liberta has also been responsible for membership marketing for The Smithsonian Institution, and for subscription marketing and planning for The Readers Digest Special Interest Publishing Division.

She began her career at Macfadden Women's Group where she managed the circulation for ten general interest romance and celebrity titles.

Rich Fontaine, Senior Vice President/Consumer Marketing Director
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc.

Rich Fontaine is currently Senior Vice President/Consumer Marketing Director for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. (NYSE: MSO), publishers of Martha Stewart Living, Everyday Food, Martha Stewart Weddings, Blueprintand Body & Soul. Rich oversees all consumer marketing initiatives, including subscription acquisition and retention marketing, newsstand/retail sales, circulation planning and ABC auditing. He is also responsible for consumer research and directs corporate database development.

Rich's previous experience at MSO included managing consumer-direct marketing programs for catalog, ecommerce and continuity books.

Prior to joining MSO in 1995, Rich held positions in consumer marketing at Time Inc./Sports Illustrated, and in product management at MBI, Inc./The Danbury Mint.

Charles L. Cordray, Vice President & General Manager
Digital Media

Chuck Cordray is Vice President and General Manager, Digital Media for Hearst Magazines. Mr. Cordray comes to Hearst from Gemstar-TV Guide, where he served as Senior Vice President, Consumer Marketing, running newsstand sales, subscription sales, and TVGuide.com. Previously, at Primedia, Inc. he oversaw the strategy and management of online sales and customer service for all the company’s consumer titles and consolidated online marketing into a central server system and launched online customer service.

Mr. Cordray held key management positions at the Meredith Corporation from 1992 - 2001. He was Vice President of Broadcasting Interactive and e-Marketing for the Interactive Media Group from 2000-2001. He was responsible for the strategic direction and daily management of online magazine and book sales and TV websites. Additionally, his experience includes positions as the Station Manager of WGCL-TV in Atlanta and as General Manager of Ladies' Home Journal in the Publishing Group. He also played a key role in the launch of more magazine, a Ladies' Home Journal brand extension.

He graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Lite

rature and Language and received a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University

Dawn Zier, President
North American Consumer Marketing

In August of 2005, Dawn Zier was named President of North American Consumer Marketing. She is responsible for the overall circulation and marketing strategies within North America as well as ensuring that the division takes full advantage of best practices and synergies across all media. Her responsibilities also include U.S. Books and Home Entertainment, all North American Retail initiatives, and Customer Care. Previously, she served as Vice President, Consumer Marketing and Circulation, where she led a successful four-year effort to stabilize the rate base of Reader’s Digest magazine, drive circulation profitability, and phase out its use of sweepstakes. She also developed the circulation launch strategy for the company’s newest title, Every Day With Rachael Ray.

Ms. Zier is active within the publishing industry, serving as co-chair of the ABC Magazine Directors’ Advisory Committee as well as being a member of the MPA Consumer Marketing Steering Committee and ABC Magazine Liaison Committee. Before joining Reader's Digest in 1992, Zier held positions at AT&T and Chase Manhattan Bank. She has an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management as well as a Master's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.

In order to confirm your place in this event, we require payment in full. From time to time, we change a date or location of an event. If we need to change a date or location for any reason, you will be contacted. If you have not received confirmation of your attendance from DMA, please call 212.790.1500 to ensure your seat.

Cancellation Policy

If you cannot attend an event for which you are registered, please send a substitute. Substitutions are allowed at any time.

If you cannot send a substitute, please contact DMA Customer Service prior to the event to have your registration fee held on account for a future event. If you must cancel your registration altogether, DMA will refund the registration fee in full if canceled at least three (3) business days in advance of the event. If canceled less than three (3) business days in advance but at least one (1) business day in advance of the event, the registration fee in full will be held on account. Registrants who do not cancel or arrange to have their registration fee held on account prior to the event, and fail to attend the event, forfeit their full registration fee in its entirety.

If DMA cancels the event for which you have registered, the registration fee paid will be held on account for a future event or fully refunded if you prefer. DMA is not responsible for any expenses incurred by you as a result of your registration, whether the event was attended, postponed, or canceled.
