The Growth of Multi Channel Marketing is Proof that Social Marketing is Here to Stay [DMA11]

If you take a closer look at some of the recent trends among businesses that use social media channels for advertising, you’ll see that more and more are turning to multi channel marketing. But is this an indication that marketing with social media doesn’t work? Quite the contrary – it’s evidence that social media marketing has a diversity that we’re still in the process of discovering, and that it’s going to be around for quite some time.

Take for example the merging of email marketing and social media marketing that’s been happening a lot lately. In the beginning, email marketers looked at the notion of marketing with social media in a pessimistic light. They thought, incorrectly, that it would never take hold. These days, however, as the concept of multi channel marketing continues to grow, you’re more likely to see email marketers incorporating social media strategies into their revamped campaigns to further the reach of their campaigns – evidence of social media’s acceptance among even the last holdouts.

So with all of the advances going on and everything moving a mile a minute, what’s the best way for companies to catch up to speed with multi channel marketing? Trade shows and special events like the DMA2011 Conference & Exhibition provide a wonderful opportunity for participants of all levels to meet under one roof and share ideas. Beginners can do some serious catching up by taking digital marketing workshops, while more advanced attendees can learn even more by talking face to face with some of digital marketing’s leading minds.
