Canada's Do Not Call Regulations
June 25, 2008

Do You Telemarket into Canada? Do you have Canadian customers? The Canadian National Do Not Call List becomes effective September 30 and telemarketing rules are changing!

June 25 at 12 noon, the DMA will present two experts from Canada to inform you about the law and how to comply.

Walton Hill, Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications
Canadian Marketing Association. Wally has responsibility for strategy and program development for CMA’s work in the public policy arena. His portfolio includes the Association’s government relations, communications programs for members and the public, as well as the CMA’s Ethics & Privacy and Postal Issues Committees, CMA’s Special Interest Councils and related research activities.

Nancy Webster Cole is Senior Manager, Telemarketing Regulations, at the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. Nancy managed the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission’s public preceding that set out the rules for the creation and operation of the National Do Not Call List. She is currently leading a team that is working with the National DNCL operator to put the list into operation, and that is establishing a process to investigate complaints and enforce the rules.

Get more details on how these developments will affect your business.

Whether your focus is outbound prospecting or telemarketing to existing customers, you will want to take in this review of the NDNCL along with the other new regulations that will affect all B2C and B2B telemarketing.

  • Learn when the National Do Not Call List will be launched and how you can obtain the list. Be prepared – with fines of up to $15,000 per phone call, not to mention bad publicity, these are rules that you will want to understand and follow!
  • Find out how the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) will be policing the new rules and how these apply to all telemarketing, even to those organizations that are exempt from using the new National Do Not Call List.
